6. End Of The Road

If you go around asking, when students are (more correctly, should be) in their peak sincerity during their school life, I am pretty sure most of them would answer Class 11-12. So after almost chilling the hell out for the entire class 11 when the final results came, we were shocked that even after not giving enough time for studies we had performed poorly. We had to pacify ourselves by saying “ अबे 11 का result कोई देखता भी नहीं है main class 12 है ” . And so, we as a class (Batch 2018) decided that we will have to mend our ways and study seriously for class 12th.  Arrived the very first day of class 12 and I knew a lot of things were about to change and I kid you not “a lot” was to change from here onwards. We started off with about 44 students in class 10 and then the number went down to 24 in class 11 and then to 19 students in class 12 (reason, our school did not have an arts stream so students who wanted to opt for arts had to move out). This major wipe-out broke ...

5. Travel Diaries

Our school due to some specific reasons (read ‘budget constraint and terrible transportation in Tripura’) could never take us to a proper school trip sort of things. But if that makes you think we missed on the fun of school trip then you, my dear friend could not have been more wrong. Cause KVS used to organize these various meets and exhibitions every year like SST exhibition, Science exhibition, Sports meet etc. Now it might seem very surprising to you, but I was never a part of any sports event ever, like not even the guy who gets the towels and water bottles for the other players, I was not even seen anywhere near the grounds during the practice sessions. So, the only way I only found my exit was through social science exhibition and this blog is mainly on these sweet memories that I have preserved. Social Science Exhibition was basically a meet between five schools where they used to take part in various competitions like group song, dance, skit, debate, quiz and many mo...

4. As Innocence Overflows

Crush, did I manage to put up a smile on your face with that thought? OK, maybe I should have rephrased it as ‘childhood crush’. Oh! C’mon don’t act innocent at all, we all had them. May not be like 13,14 y/o guys and girls nowadays, chatting on social media chatrooms, celebrating one month or two months anniversary and promising each other to stay together forever and other such emotional shit. Nope not these ones and if you somehow are a part of this community you better not even proceed. The time I am talking is more like the early 2000s and since I already cleared up about the late advent of internet, social media and such instances of technological marvels if this story gives you late 90s sort of vibes then there is really not much I can help about. Oh! Also, by the way, I shall be writing all these from a guy’s perspective so in case you as a girl feel that you are not able to relate then apologies in advance. Howsoever it shall be really sensible of me to put up a disclai...

3. As we walk more...

Life Support System If there is something that has changed a lot, like really a lot then it surely has to be the cartoons that we used to watch, including the likes of Richie Rich, Courage the cowardly dog (which I for some weird reason thought to be courage the calorie dog), 'Tom and Jerry'. And along with that, if anything has changed it is the way how we responded to them. I remember that innate curiosity I had, to get see the face of Tom’s owner, sometimes wondering will getting a TV with a bigger screen solve the problem, sometimes standing near the screen peeping into the upper edge just to solve the biggest mystery ever “How does Tom’s owner look?”. Switching to Star Utsav in the evening to watch Shakalaka Boom-Boom and then having an innate urge to get that magical pen. And just for that buying those 5 rupees chocolates that had a free Shakalaka Boom-Boom pen and then getting disappointed as nothing that I drew with it came to life, the conquest was real.  An...

2. As I walk Down

The Load Shedding (A Boon In Bane) So before you accuse me of being like a typical hostel-mess which serves you downright anything in the name of food, for serving you whatsoever may be it in the name of nostalgia let me make it very clear that it's not the load shedding that I miss, but the very events that followed. Remember how every home used to have alternatives ready, generators or inverters in privileged homes and others having that red-coloured solar lamp or that green turned brown lantern and when you ran out of it all you had one and only one saviour, wax candles.  And once the time limit of an hour or half was over the whole conquest of phone calls used to start. Dialling 222237, again and again, to get the phone line busy all the time and if your lucky stars favoured you and somebody answered your call the set of dialogue that followed was almost always the same. “Hello Power House, Uncle ami ashram schooler eikhan theke bolchilam. Current kon shomoy ash...

1. Introduction

I have been thinking to write something. For a quite long, yeah! It has been almost a few months now. Nope, it’s not like I am trying to project myself as some super busy person but it just that I am a master procrastinator. A year pass by and I sit and think how things have changed so much. And it’s not that I am a 90s kid boasting about how 90s was much better, but howsoever I firmly believe that if there was any good about me being in Kailashahar and Kailashahar being in Tripura and Tripura being an all in all quite technologically backward state, it was that me being able to relate to all the “90s kid will relate to these” memes. No, but seriously, I don’t know what or who is it that is to be blamed but I firmly believe that the TV shows that we watched the kind of contents we interacted with and the kind of environment that we grew up in saved us from the many things including ‘fake maturity’ and ‘fake adultness’ that is in display among much younger kids. No! No! No...
